This is one of the most famous pictorial images of Yosemite, illustrated by Della Hoss, wife of Herman Hoss, the Federal Magistrate and Treasurer of the Yosemite Park and Curry Company. The Company is still one of the major concessioners to the National Park System. This map was drawn as part of a promotional drive for Yosemite.
As well as being wife to Herman Hoss, Della was also sister to Ruth Taylor White, one of the foremost pictorial map makers in the United States in the early 20th century.
