Charles Francois Delamarche
Attractive French World map on Mercators projection originally based on a map by the venerable French map maker, Robert Vaugondy. Updated with the latest geographical data by his successor, C. F. Delamarche.
Delamarche adds several small panels of text throughout the map, particularly in the North Pole, explaining the discovery of Baffin's Bay, the nomenclature of Greenland and the discovery of Spitsbergen or modern Svalbard. The cartouche is also highly informative, stating the he has integrated the latest discoveries of Cook and La Perouse in 1801 as well as those of McKenzie and Vancouver in 1802.
