John Tallis
26 x 33 cm
Tallis’s depiction of the Cape Colony of Southern Africa is characteristically attractive with his trademark vignettes. The place names are a mixture of old Dutch from the pre-Napoleonic War to newer settlements now bearing names such as “Clanwilliam”, “George” and “Worcester”.
As usual, the map was drawn and engraved by J. Rapkin while the vignettes were added by H. Warren and H. Bond.
Original colour. [AFR6427]
