Mercator's important early map of Ireland showing north to the right of the sheet.
This map is based on the wall map of Europe produced by Gerhard Mercator in the late 16th century. It was first issued in the the Mercator atlas of 1595, issued again by Jodocus Hondius in 1606 and throughout life of the Mercator/Hondius/Jansson Grand Atlas. Its geograhical model was also used by John Speed and Willem Blaeu amongts many others.
