Oriel College: Birds eye view of the quadrangle. Soon after it's foundation in 1326, the ‘College of the Blessed Virgin Mary’ was given a property called ‘La Oriole’, on the site of the present Front Quadrangle and in time came to be known by this name. An architectural draughtsman, in many instances William's elevations are the only visual records of the colleges at this time.
