Drawn from life during the 1859-62 diplomatic mission of Prince Friedrich Albrecht zu Eulenberg to sign the Treaty of Amity, Commerce and Navigation with Japan, China and Siam. On the expedition were the landscape painter Albert Berg and draftsman Wilhelm Heine. The majority of the images were after Berg's watercolours.
