Trafalgar Square: Royal review of the Troops from Egypt. The Anglo-Egyptian War of 1882 ended a nationalist uprising in the region and allowed for British occupation until 1936. Nelson's Column stands proudly in the square to commemorate Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson who died at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1804. The column was built between 1840 and 1843 by William Railton.
