Rare and unusual panoramic map noting the elevations of London, with the north bank of the Thames acting as the base and Jack Straw's Castle in Hampstead as the high point. 

This extremely rare, separately issued map of London takes an original and eccentric perspective of the city. Using the north bank of the Thames as its base, it begins to show the landscape of the city in gradients, marked with prominent buildings to indicate their location. Each building is numbered, with these numbers indexed on the side, both alphabetically and numerically. (Two separate lists). 

The House of Lords and Westminster Abbey are two of the prominent buildings shown at the lowest elevation while Jack Straw's Castle in Hampstead is shown at the highest. The latter was a large Coaching House which has now been converted into flats although it still remains a Listed Building. 

A very unusual piece.
