Magnificent panoramic map of London as seen from an aerial view, in this case a balloon. The most discernible feature in the north is Regent's Park, with the Oval being the most visible in the south.
In the west, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens and Kensington Palace are the most visible features while in the east it is the Tower of London, together with the docks on the Isle of Dogs.
It bears a close resemblance to the map issued under the same name by Joseph Henry Banks and Co. in 1851. There are some minute differences as Banks' map shows a very small hot air balloon in the distance which this example lacks. The imprint on the lower margin is also different.
A very distinctive and evocative take on the traditional panoramic map. Separately issued. [LDN7722]
