Large vintage map of Taiwan published in Japan just before the beginning of World War II.
This large vintage map of the island was published by a large Japanese publishing company. The map was aimed at travelers to Taiwan, with an emphasis on the road system, high ground and general accessibility. The red lines around the coasts correspond to local shipping routes while the inset on the upper left shows the island in relation to the coast of China as well as its distance to the main Japanese islands.
It is part of a series of similar maps of the island performing the same function although this is one of the larger examples.
