The plan was sourced from a manuscript drawn by Pierre Le Blond de la Tour in 1720. La Tour was the Royal Engineer of Louisiana. It acted as a template for all plans of the city for the 18th century and was used by map makers such as Bellin, Tirion and Jefferys.
