A decorative map of North & South America with a large title cartouche depicting erupting volcanoes, piles of gold and other produce, and several Native Americans, one of whom holds a shrunken head. This map's geography is reasonably up-to-date for the period: the Great Lakes and Mississippi River are accurately depicted, and California is no longer shown as an island. The supposed Northwest Passage still appears on the map, but perhaps this can be excused as the Pacific Northwest of America remained entirely unknown when this map was printed. Coloured. [AMER1115]
