Interesting sea chart of Southern Borneo and the Java Sea.
The map features multiple numbered rhumb line networks for
navigation. Oriented north with a decorative compass rose. Coastal areas are
detailed with select settlements and notable elevated and lowland regions. The
mouth of the River Barito near Banjarmasin is labelled, while areas further inland
are otherwise uncharted. Curiously, Borneo is labelled here as “pepper
country.” Sandbanks are also indicated. The chart covers modern South
Kalimantan, Laut Island, Matasiri Island, and parts of Central Kalimantan,
Indonesia.
