Plan of Sioux City. Published in 1889 in Chicago by
George Cram, an American map publisher who became the sole proprietor of George
F. Cram Co., one of the leading map firms in the United States during
the latter half of the 19th century. 

The map features parks and cemeteries highlighted in green,
with rivers such as the Floyd River and the Missouri River marked in blue. A
series of concentric radial circles detail distances from the city centre in
miles. Rail lines are also marked.

 At the time of publication, Sioux City was a growing urban
centre with a burgeoning meatpacking industry, reflected in its extensive
stockyards. Several of these, including the Central Stock Yards and Union
Stockyard, are visible along the course of the Floyd River.
