Charming county map of Monmouthshire. Bordered by
Glamorganshire, Brecknockshire, Herefordshire, and Gloucestershire, with part
of the mouth of the River Severn. Forests, highlands, and prominent settlements
are noted.
Most uniquely, this map features panels of Roman artefacts found
in Monmouthshire within the margins. From top-right, clockwise, these artefacts
are: two fibulas (brooches); an altar fragment; an alabaster statue; a
chequered pavement; a phiala (bowl).
