Francesco Valegio's view was a direct copy of Claes Visscher's panorama retaining many delightful details from the windmill at Hampstead to the crowd trying to sneak a free view through the windows of the Globe but with numerous building annotations omitted and Valegio’s cartouche replacing Visscher’s in the upper left corner.

Visscher’s view was most likely based on earlier depictions and plans from various viewpoints and then compiled into one. Architectural details such as Shakespeare's Globe shown as an octagon tower rather than a twenty-sided polygon,  the Thames lacking its curve and the absence of several churches and other buildings suggest that Visscher never saw London himself nor is it likely did Valegio. Stefano Scolari directly copied Valegio only adding his signature to the lower left. A draughtsman originally from Brescia, Scolari arrived in Venice a few years before Valegio’s death and quickly established himself as one of the city’s finest engraver/publishers.
