A folding map of London extending from Knightsbridge to Limehouse, and from Islington to Lambeth. New developments in Paddington and Belgravia are coloured yellow, and both the locations of old and new London Bridges are shown. Though undated, the inclusion of both London Bridges and the existence of the St. Katharine Docks allow us to date the map to c.1830.

This map was originally drawn and published by Charles Smith around 1830, but the leather cover of our example bears the sales label of the firm of Darton & Clark. John Maw Darton and Samuel Clark became partners in 1838 after John's father, William Darton, retired. William Darton had previously published an amended version of Smith's map with an eastward extension showing the East India Docks and the River Lea, so it is unclear why the Darton & Clark firm chose to sell this Charles Smith map instead of the enlarged Darton map.
