Spectacular separately issued plan of Budapest celebrating its ascension as one of the great cities of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Homolka was a Bohemian map maker born in 1840 who gained geographical prominence in his native land before moving to the city of Budapest as part of the Geographical Department of the State Printing Office of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He died in 1907. 

He contributed to many maps during his career, mainly helping to record and detail the Empire. This wonderful map of the city is a celebration of the ascent of Budapest as a great European metropolis after its declaration as the co-capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire with Vienna after 1867 and the unification of Buda and Pest in 1873, thus becoming Budapest.
