Very nice example of Blaeu's map of the Isle of Wight.

Geographically, the map is based on Speed's map first issued in 1611. This map was one of the earliest maps of the island, preceded only by the miniature map of Pieter van de Keere whose publishing date is not certain but is presumed to have been published earlier. 

Although Blaeu's map is based on Speed, the engraving style, decoration and colouring is vastly different. The armorial shields are the same as those used on Speed's map but on the upper left as opposed to the centre right. A small note of interest is the presence of the arms of Henry Beaucamp or Beauchamp K. of Wight, who became the first Duke of Warwick. Beauchamp was a favourite of Henry VI and was also briefly given the title "King of the Isle of Wight", hence the presence of his coat of arms. That title was not used again.
