Spectacular map of Egypt combining the knowledge of ancient geographers together with the more recent descriptions of the noted traveller and scholar, Richard Pococke.

This superb map of Egypt combines the knowledge and ancient and Enlightenment Scholars. The locations of major classical cities are marked together with the network of caravan routes leading to and from Arabia and the Levant. The Haj routes through the Sinai are clear shown, together with the more esoteric Biblical route of the Israelites during the Exodus.

The right margin shows maps of the mouth of the Nile as described by major classical geographers such as Strabo, Ptolemy and Pliny. A more modern view is given in the shape and detail of the Sinai Peninsula, which is taken from the maps and description of the English writer and traveller, Richard Pococke.

The map has been beautifully laid out and compiled by the venerable Dutch cartographic firm of Covens and Mortier.
