Unusual wall map of Europe showing mostly the geography of the continent between the wars but with the addition of the border of Vichy France.

This wall map of Europe is a peculiar oddity. At first glance, geographically, it shows many of the geographical features associated with the continent between the two world wars. These include the separation of Austria and Germany, the existence of the Danzig Free State and the border of Lithuania shown west of Vilnius. All of these geographical entities either changed or disappeared in the events leading up to or just after the declaration of World War II. However, this map bears a small code on the lower centre margin "11243" which on Stanford maps is often a date of publishing. More tellingly, the map shows the border of Vichy France placing it firmly during World War II.
