Separately issued map of Seattle from the early 20th century.

This map is part of a sequence which the Kroll Map Co. first published in the early 1920s, chronicling the development of the city. The initial impetus behind the publication was the promotion of Seattle real estate; the city had become the third largest settlement on the west coast of America and commerce in raw materials, timber and gold had established a thriving real estate sector in the urban area.

The map must have been successful as there were several editions although it is difficult pin down the years of publication as there are no dates on the map. The earliest is possibly 1924. This example is slightly later, probably about 1930 due to the presence of Boeing Field Airport, later to become King County International, opened in 1928. Original colour. [USA9948]
