Duval's miniature maps are based mainly on Nicolas Sanson's larger maps including this one. This series of maps were extremely popular and went through numerous imprints. The first was issued in 1650 but editions are known from as late as the 1690s. In addition, several foreign editions with the maps were also issued, especially in Germany. Robert Morden, in London, for his 1680 miniature atlas used many of Duval's maps as geographical models. Coloured. [AFR6408]
