Attractive city plan of Lisbon published in the late 19th century to showcase the civic improvements of the city.

This fascinating map details some of the enormous changes in the city as it developed in the late 19th century. Central to this is the introduction of the "Avenida de Liberdade" opened in 1880, marked in the centre map. It is shown as leading into the Parque de Avenida, still in its planning stages, on the northern edge of the city. Other planned details on the map show the city's ambitious development of its northern suburbs.
