Plan of Karnak based on the latest excavations including the newly uncovered Temple of Mut.

This is a reduced version of a larger map present in a early 20th century guide book. The title references the three major early archaeological surveyors and excavators of the Karnak complex.

Richard Lepsius led the Prussian expedition to Egypt and made meticulous records of Egyptian antiquities; Auguste Mariette was the founder of the Egyptian Antiquities Service and undertook large scale excavations of the complex over twenty years between the 1850s and the 1870s; Margaret Benson and her partner Janet Gourlay were the first women to be given permission to excavate in Egypt and over three years,(1895-7) excavated the Temple of Mut in the east.
