Map Illustrating The Journeys of Dr. W. Junker between The Upper Nile and the Congo
The routes of the Russian explorer Wilhelm Junker (1840-1892) between the River Congo and the Upper Nile in modern-day D.R. Congo, South Sudan, and Uganda. The map is prepared from Junker's original drawings and was published in the Journal of the Royal Geographical Society. It also shows the routes of Friedrich Bohndorff, a German ornithologist who participated in Junker's 1880 expedition and occasionally separated from the main party.
Junker traveled extensively in Central Africa from 1875 to 1886, making important observations about the flora, fauna, and people of the region. He received the medal of the Royal Geographical Society for his work.
