John Petherick's Reisen am Oberen Nil 1858-1863
A map of the Welsh traveller and trader John Petherick's explorations in South Sudan and Uganda, following the tributaries of the White Nile. Petherick spent many years in Sudan, both as an official consul and as a private trader. He helped to organize Burton & Speke's expedition to find the source of the Nile and was tasked with transporting relief supplies to the expedition. This map is a German derivative of an English map published in the Journal of the Royal Geographical Society in 1865.
