British Columbia
Magnificent folding wall map of British Columbia published by the Department of Lands in Canada and compiled by G.G. Aitken, the Chief Geographer. The map has a label advertising its commercial availability at Edward Stanfords establishment in London. This, together with an inset of the transport links between Canada and the rest of the world on the upper right, as well as the emphasis shown on railways on the map suggests that the main function of this piece was to encourage immigration into the sparsely settled Canadian West. Printed colour. Folded [CAN2947]
