A rare and monumental wall map of southern Mexico showing the nation's communications infrastructure, including post roads, railways, steamer routes, lighthouses, telegraph cables, post offices, and customs stations. The limit to which steamships could navigate up various rivers is noted, as is the visibility range and colour of each lighthouse.

This is the southern sheet of a 2-sheet map of Mexico compiled by Colonel Bodo von Glümer on behalf of the Mexican Secretary of State in 1895-6. It was the most detailed communications map ever printed of Mexico at the time. The map's data was compiled form a wide range of sources, including Admiralty charts, U.S. Navy charts, Mexican geological and mining maps, and Pedro Garcia Conde's important survey of Mexico. A small inset map shows the Mexico City Federal District in greater detail.
