Large and splendid map of the Puget Sound from Vancouver in the north to Olympia in the south. Separately issued.

This is one of the largest and finest surveys of Puget Sound issued in the early 20th century. Oliver Phelps Anderson was a serial entrepreneur based in Seattle who also became a supplier in photographic equipment and formed his own engineering company as well as operating a map publishing business. His earliest maps can be traced back to the mid 1880s. His output included "blue print maps" a fast, inexpensive method of publishing cartography popular due to its price accessibility. The firm was ultimately sold to the Kroll Map Co. in 1911 as a successful ongoing business. 

The sources of this survey would have been the General Land Office and the U.S. Navy Hydrographic Survey. The use of block printed colour adds greatly to its aesthetic appeal. 

This must have been one of the last maps published by Anderson before his disposal of the company. Original colour. [USA9949]
