A detailed French map of the Middle East, extending from Turkey, the Levant, and Arabia to Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Central Asia. Colour is used to distinguish Persia (Iran), Balouchistan (Pakistan), and Afghanistan from the territories controlled by the Ottoman Empire at the time. These included modern-day Arabia, Iraq, Turkey, parts of the Caucasus, Egypt, and the Holy Land.

Many trade routes and pilgrimage routes are marked with dotted lines, particularly across the desert from Iraq and Iran to Mecca and Medina. In the area of the modern-day UAE, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah are named, but not Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The mention of the Sikhs in Punjab will be of interest to many collectors.
