Henricus Hondius

Hondius's map of Great Britain is embellished with battling galleons and mermaids holding the flags of England, Ireland and Scotland. The attractive old colour emphasises these decorative features. A small inset map in the top-right corner shows the Orkney Islands. The title cartouche in the top-left is surmounted by the royal coat of arms.
