One of the most attractive city plans of Lisbon published in the 19th century. Embellished with a large panorama of the city on the lower border.

This striking map of Lisbon is one of best known plans present in the work, mainly due to the extraordinary panorama of the city on its lower border. A red line outlines the old medieval city and a small inset shows the mouth of the River Tagus. 

The map is attributed to William Barnard Clarke, one of the most eminent architects of the day and a founder member of the Architectural Society of London. He was also an avid traveller throughout Europe. He was a contributor to many of the city plans published by the Society. 

Although dated 1833, this map was actually issued in the 1844 edition by Chapman and Hall.
