A patriotic, WW2-era, polar-projection world map celebrating the history and future of flight, as well as the role of the US Air Force in the war. The map is decorated with illustrations of fighter planes, bombers, aviation medals, the insignia of the Allied Air Forces, and a dictionary of aviation terms. An inset heralding the "Skyway of Tomorrow" proclaims that flying cars, commuting by helicopter, and flying freight trains will all soon be a reality in the glorious age of flight.



This map was drawn by F.E. Cheeseman, a prolific mid-century illustrator, as an advertisement for Albert Richard Sportswear, famous for their leather bomber jackets and sports equipment. These maps were distributed to outlets across the nation which stocked Albert Richard clothing - this specific example was presented with the compliments of the Strouss-Hirshberg Co. of Youngstown, Ohio.
