Océanie
Large and immensely detailed atlas map of the Pacific Ocean, incorporating a large part of the Asian continent, the South East Asian archipelago, Australia, New Zealand, Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia, and the coastline of the United States, Mexico, Central and South America.
A great detail of information is presented on the map. The map shows physical data such as topography, river and mountains, wind directions and oceans currents. It also marks political boundaries, administrative divisions within countries and commercial/trade routes.
There are 5 accompanying inset maps presented on the lower edge of the map. One detailed map of New South Wales in Australia. Four smaller inset maps each with their own inset close up depicting New Caledonia and the Loyalty Islands; Marquesas Islands (close up of Nuku Hiva); Tahiti (with close up of the capital Pape'ete); and finally the Gambier Islands.
The map has been engraved by Charles Dyonnet and the geography mapped by A. H. Dufour.
Original hand colour. (SL) [AUNZ2057]
